November’s 8
Anniversary – It’s one year of blogging here. Thanks for sticking around.
Sign of adulthood - It’s the time when all my friends start getting married. I went to a wedding with a date and was overjoyed that no one asked if I would be the next one down the aisle.
Sign of adulthood (that features the Futura typeface) – Put This On (a blog and podcast) is teaching me how to dress without looking too trendy or going broke.
Internet Magazine – The Awl is pretty great. It features humorous news analysis, insightful (and humorous) opinion pieces and the well-researched Footnotes of Madmen, which has begun annotating early episodes of the show.
A nice place to visit – I was in St. Louis this past weekend. It’s nice to go back, but I’m glad I don’t have to drive so much anymore.
That being said – I haven’t found a bar/hangout that seems to fit as well as a few of my old haunts.
Bizarre Mailings - Today’s junkmail featured the “Funny Times.” It looked like a cheesy publication on par with the Coffee Times (ubiquitous in some areas, even if coffee isn’t served) and the Fax Times (terrible jokes faxed from Kansas City daily). Really, though, it was only about half cheesy. There was a Lynda Barry comic, a new Life In Hell from Matt Groening and Tom Tomorrow’s This Modern World. There was an essay by Garrison Keillor and the promotional blurbs on the subscription card were written by actual funny people. I didn’t know what to make of it, so I gave up. Print isn’t dead, it’s just confusing.
Question – Does this detached style work for the monthly eight?

Answer – Why not?
