A Must Read For Urban Issues Wonks

My Dad just loaned me The Power Broker – a controversial biography of Robert Moses. I didn’t know anything about Moses until I was moving out of New York, but his influence on the city and urban politics around the country is huge. It’s a lengthy bio and I’m not all the way through it, but I’m hooked on Moses’ story.
While some of his projects and tactics are questionable, Moses was an undeniably brilliant engineer and politician. His work shaped New York City and influenced skylines and culs-de-sac around the country.
As a journalist who covers city issues and politics, I think this book will give me some new insights into the topics I cover, and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in urban design or good nonfiction.
